PMO Assurance & Planning Manager – Hybrid available

The role of PMO Assurance & Planning Manager will involve:

  • Establish and take ownership of project assurance methods, standards and techniques within the Programme Management Office
  • Provide support and advice to delivery teams, and encourage consistency and best practice
  • Provide expert advice and technical support on the use of project documentation and supporting tools such as MS Project.
  • Support Programme and Project Managers in project initiation, setting project baselines, agreeing plans with stakeholders and maintaining accurate project plans.
  • Lead on the development of standardised project documentation and continuous improvement aligned to the Project Management Framework.
  • Act as a member of Programme Boards, providing challenge, assurance, and information on behalf of the Programme Management Office.
  • Support Programme and Project Managers in determining resource requirements and performing resource analysis and allocation to optimise resource efficiency.
  • Advise Programme and Project Managers on the production and maintenance of business cases and other project documentation
  • Support effective Programme and Project assurance and governance throughout the lifecycle, including facilitation of the stage gate approval process
  • Innovate and improve project and programme assurance, reporting and governance
  • Work with the PMO Analyst to produce reporting and analysis as required for the Programme Office sponsor, including programme and project progress to date and forecast progress.

The ideal candidate for the role of PMO Assurance & Planning Manager will have:

  • Experience in the establishment and / operation of a programme based PMO function
  • An APM, Prince 2 or similar qualification
  • A solid understanding of PMO process, standards and governance; experience of operational management within a PMO function
  • Experience of planning and co-ordinating Programmes
  • Experience of writing and assuring project documentation (proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas via strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation
